between tumblr being found guilty of moderating lgbtq content unequally during the 2018 ban in court and @ sorryforpartyrocking being nuked for suggesting one of tumblr staff may have investment in defending terfs to now many different trans women having their text posts and selfies being flagged as mature without the opportunity to appeal in any meaningful way (one of which was nuked herself)… it’s very. hmmmm. it’s a bad look. as if staff wasn’t already on thin ice for refusing to engage in any effective way with hate speech. “queerest space on the internet” my ass
my dads response could not have been better

Worth noting with the current information coming out about Artfight and staff treatment that former moderators have not asked for a strike, boycott, or to cease event participation in support. I fully understand if people do not want to continue with the event due to the issues, but please don't wrongly state that they (Former staff) want people to halt participation.
Although it would be best to cease donations to the site until full clarity is given on the use of funds, along with changes made to staff treatment and workload.
I do also want to say that having unpaid volunteer staff is not an issue in itself as long as full clarity is given on that position, and as long as the workload stays reasonable for the limited time and effort a volunteer position should hold. The issue is that artfight volunteer teams were small, overworked and uncompensated for the sheer amount of effort called on them. Larger teams and compensation would both be great, but merely having volunteer moderators is not an issue.
